Can I get a list of street names which fall within a given Town, Zip Code or mile radius from a given point? Thanks! Joseph GeretzHi Joseph, Easy scanning for streets every 10 meter or so. You have to filter out duplicates and road numbers that are not names. I have a demo on my web site that demonstrate it using a rectangle, but you can do with any
Hi, I have seen in several programs you can get street names from a point (like a pushpin). So for example if I have a pushpin at x,y how do i find the nearest road/street? (like PushpinA is 0.25 Km north of road A123) MiloMilo, I'm afraid this (reverse geocoding) is not directly supported in MapPoint. There are articles describing ways to do it, e.g. this one: http://www.mp2kmag.com/a50--reverse.geocoding.3.mappoint.html but be aware this is not what MapPoint focuses on or does very well. Is it possible to map Canadian Postal Code with Mappoint? If so, what is the maximum number of points that you can map? MerciYes. You can plot 10,000 points at a time The limit will be according to the Operating System and should be 2 GB.
found problems with avenue 8 - 328 in the central valley. The street "Avenue ###" names are corrupted everywhere!!! Oddly the street names as shown on the map are correct. Doing a reverse-geocode on any was reported to Microsoft in 2001. I usually need to explain that the problem is NOT with street names that have an "avenue" or "ave" suffix. 328". MapPoint has hundreds/thousands of corrupt "Avenue ###" street names. It's completely unacceable that thousands of valid addresses can not be found just because next month and that this would fix the problem with MapPoint "Avenue ###" street names. Microsoft's [faraway place] MapPoint desktop support also assured me that my case (SRX
The Territories function has been a value to our department. We have begun tracking environmental/weather data in Canada but our data is indexed on zip codes. Will MS ever include Canadian zip codes in there software or is there a module or plug in that can be downloaded? Not sure where you are but I'm using MapPoint 2004 and I can plot all kinds of Postal Codes. IF you are looking for Postal Code Boundary files they do not exist. I've been working with Canada Post for almost a year now and even most post office do not have Boundary's for their postal codes, it's really just the route carriers that know where and how. In rural area's they are to large and confusing in urban areas they change to much or new ones get added, split etc..
How do I create a map that shows a political map but without streets, street names, city names etc. I just want to see border lines and if possible rivers and lakes.Hi Johanna, Unfortunately this isn
determine the name of the road I am on? I’d also like to get a list of the upcoming street names for cross-streets. I’d like to know the intersection in distance order and approximately how far they are away. Maybe I could display a map. But I’d like to present the Navigator with a list of intersections (and the street names) and let the Navigator select the one that we’re looking for. Then the computer can count down the distance if you wish to pursue it.Michael, Can I have the method which will me the address and the cross street if Latitude and Longitude are given. I really appreciate it. my email address is [email protected]
Or even upcoming intersections for a route, or nearby intersections? I am using the MapPoint COM interface.Andy, Not as far as I am aware of - there is a special syntax (separate two street names with a plus sign) to find intersections between known roads, but in this case you do not know the second road? Gilles [MVP]. (Please reply to the group, not via email)Thanks for the insight. (I am not ready to give up yet, I hate it when my computer knows something but it won't tell me.) Perhaps there is a work around? Is there a way to examine the properties of streets or intersections. For example can streets or intersections be made to show up with a FindNearby query? Then I could examine the locations to see which are the intersections of interest.
Is it possible to add street names to existing maps. The maps seem to be there and correct but no names are available. Can I add them? Also is it possible to add a road or street to an existing map?No, the map data cannot be altered or added to. Pushpins, shapes and text boxes can be added and saved along with the map, but road names cannot be changed and road can't be added. Gilles [MVP]. (Please reply to the group, not via email)
I would like on the map - I would like to see most if not all street names for example, and I am getting maybe one street name in every 4 populated. The map is pretty well "zoomed in" on the .PrintOut(, strTitle, , 6, geoPrintQualityPresentation, geoPrintLandscape) My question is really is there any way to show more detail e.g more street names etc without zooming the map JonathanHi Jonathan, I just did a few test to verify, and what is printed is
online). I would like to be able to include a grid/overlay like the ones you typically see on store-bought street/city maps, but instead of the streets listed on the legend, I would like to use the push-pin names. For example, Jones, Sue - A3, Smith, Sally - C4, etc. (1) Is there such a "grid overlay" ;t know the proper lingo for this feature), and (2) if so, can I create a legend from the push-pin names? Thanks in advance! - KarenNo, not that I am aware of. Could be done programmatically though, if you have programming
